Wine and Cheese Sip Along is back and this time we’re keeping it local!

Yorkshire Day is August 1st so we’ll be celebrating Yorkshire produce for this particular pairing, and what a lineup we have for you.

After our sell-out event in Feb, we’ve been itching to get another evening together with our good friends Latitude Wine and George and Joseph Cheese Mongers.

Latitude Wine and Liquor Merchants have provided Leeds with quality wines, spirits, beers and everything in-between since 2008. Restaurants, bars and home bars alike continue to benefit from their dedication to quality products.

Award-winning Cheesemongers George & Joseph, based in Chapel Allerton, have a passion for locally produced cheeses. Their dedication to quality won them Best Specialist Cheese Retailer at the British Cheese Awards in 2018.

Representatives from both businesses will be at the event to provide unique insight into this wonderful selection.

This event will occur at The Tetley in Leeds, home of the former brewery, now a contemporary art space, restaurant and bar.

Your Ticket Includes:

Five Pairings of wine and cheese with bread provided by Baltzersen Bakerei in Harrogate:

Leventhorpe Sparkling – A light, delicate sparkling Yorkshire wine with an apple and biscuit nose, leading to a fine mousse with a delicate fresh apple flavour, developing a hint of honey with age

Paired with…

Dale End Cheddar – a strong earthy cheddar from Botton village in the Nother York Moors (unpasteurised, vegetarian, organic, cows milk)

Finca Manzanos Tempranillo Blanco Rioja – Plentiful aroma with sweet notes, chamomile and secondary aromas of peach, citrus and tropical fruits. All assembled in perfect harmony with the creamy notes and spices from the oak barrels

Paired with…

Old Roan Wensleydale – produced by the first Yorkshire farmers to make Wensleydale in 50 years. Smooth and creamy (unpasteurised, cows milk)

Weingut Fritz Wassamer Spatburgunder – Very Burgundian in style. Balanced, with harmonious acidity, fine, ripe tannins and perfect fruit: raspberry, blackberry, even a little anise over a powerful structure. Despite an abundance of aromas, the wine is balanced and approachable

Paired with…

Yorkshire Pecorino – award-winning young and fresh cheese produced in Otley by Mario Olianas with Semi-soft structure and lemony yoghurt notes (pasteurised, ewes milk)

Calmel & Joseph Caramany Cotes Du Roussillon – Crimson red colour with brilliant reflections. The nose is intense, with woody notes mixed with aromas of black fruits such as fig, blackcurrant, blackberry but also black olive. The palate is powerful and unctuous, with well-integrated tannins

Paired with…

Shorthorn Blue – A wonderfully mellow buttery blue cheese with notes of savoury saltiness (Pasteurised, cows milk)

Emiliana Novas Gran Reserva – Plentiful aroma with sweet notes, chamomile and secondary aromas of peach, citrus and tropical fruits. All assembled in perfect harmony with the creamy notes and spices from the oak barrels

Paired with…

East Barn Brie – A new Rich & creamy brie made in Skipton in the Yorkshire Dales (Pasteurised, cows milk)
